Fair and Equal?

I realize that anyone who's ever had to deal with the judicial system in this country knows that it's in a sorry state of affairs. Here's an example that I first learned of from Fark.com, but I dug up some other information.

District Court Judge R. Patrick Hayman in Ocean City, made the new recently for acquitting a Maryland University football player because the player's lawyer said a conviction for cursing at police and resisting arrest could ruin his career.

A week earlier, this same judge threw the book at an 18 year old woman. Her crime? Cursing at police and resisting arrest.

Unfortunately, this judge is appointed by the Governor of Maryland and they're stuck with him until 2009.
